Controversially having beaten both Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2 I've come to the conclusion that I prefer the original though both games are very good. The atmosphere I think was better in the original I'd preferred the monsters of the original, I also thought the levels were generally speaking better in the original and dare I day it had a better balance, and, flow to them as well the locations. In terms of the protagonists generally speaking I think there's not much to chose between Harry Mason and James Sunderland perhaps James has the edge there, but yes I think the story of the original is better as well.

Yahtz occasionally mentions how easily you can soft-lock yourself in system shock 2 but Honestly I dunno how true that is. It feels like something you need to do deliberately. Let's assume Yahtz doesn't mean bad combat skill specialization. IE putting points in willy nilly instead of picking one weapon type and making them slap harder than God. so that narrows it down to plot stuff It's been a while since I went through Syshock2 so forgive me if some details are amiss... 1. As far as I know you need to hack a Value-Rep vending machine to get a Story thing. But i.c.e picks exist so you don't HAVE to put the points into Hack 1. 2. You need to spec research 1 for something, I forget what. but you are told to do so AND given the necessary skillpoints to do so. 3. There is an death pit on one of the floors that you could drop an important item into but at that point you're fucking yourself, I'm not sure why I included this point I dunno about you guys but on my first playthrough I didn't know what skills I'd need so I always kept 10 or so points in the bank until something popped up that demanded an upgrade, like maybe a new research item dropped that required another point in that skill TLDR: that talk about soft locking yourself so easily in System Shock 2 sounds like an old wives tale

I don't disagree but at the same time Deadpool movies do kinda take the major Hollywood system down a peg by doing what they want, being R rated, being a number of things that Hollywood executives say "don't sell/don't make a profit", and they make a profit. DP movies are like people in the system creating a work that pokes fun at its own genre while proving their bosses don't understand the very thing they're in charge of. That's quite satirical if you ask me. Just because it wasn't made by some independent filmmaker with axe to grind on Hollywood doesn't mean that the satire is invalid.

In BioShock, saving the Little Sisters actually gives you a decent amount more ADAM in the long term alongside the bonus gifts and plasmids. Harvesting them yields more ADAM in the moment, but costs you some relatively useful plasmids, and while you're not hurting for power, it does lock you into the bad ending. I'm the kind of player with a soft enough heart that I genuinely can't go down those routes. I feel too guilty to even take the first step. But if an NPC annoys me enough, if it won't affect my ending, I'm willing to be petty enough to find a way to isolate them so I can take them out just to be done with them.

I kind of get where Gabe was coming from with the GOTY argument, but the fact he treats his position as so objectively true and closed to interpretation is what gets me. In his head there's zero correlation between GOTY and the best game you played that year. I could agree more with him if the question was phrased, 'What do you think will win GOTY?" Then again, maybe he was just intentionally trying to piss of Yahtzee. Also, hello people reading in 2024 and beyond.
